Known from northern (commonly found in Shihman and abundantly in Yehliu (Ref. 43538), Tung-hsiao, Tai-chung and Chang-hwa) Taiwan (Ref. 43515). Found in Tanshui estuary, northwestern Taiwan (Ref. 38058). Collected from mangrove creeks in southwestern Taiwan (Pu-Tai, Pei-Men, and Syh-Tsao) (Ref. 48455). Reported from Penghu (Ref. 43515, 55073). First successful larviculture in Taiwan occurred in 1969 (Ref. 40927). Waters northeast of Taiwan proved to be a suitable spawning ground in addition to the well-known traditional nursery areas in the southwest coast (Ref. 74505). Catches increased as temperature decreased (Ref. 74803, 74772). Yearly total catch is also positively correlated to duration of fishing period (Ref. 74804, 74805). Also Ref. 5193, 36073, 38058.
